Senior Financial Analyst

As a Senior Financial Analyst at the Legislative Assembly Office (LAO) your role will involve analyzing financial documents, preparing financial reports and delivering customized, responsive services. You will work closely with various LAO branches, caucuses and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to communicate year-end processing guidelines effectively and resolve any arising issues while ensuring audit requirements are met and annual budgets are completed. This includes managing activities to meet strict deadlines and regulatory requirements and ensuring all transactions and reconciliations comply with Public Sector Accounting Standards and legislative guidelines. 


Your expertise will be required in financial reporting, accounting, budget development and policy interpretation. You will also communicate and provide information to Treasury Board and Finance and ensure timely public posting of the required quarterly MLA expense disclosure reports. As a member of CPA Canada you will apply your knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards and financial analysis to support the LAO's objectives with integrity.

Bring Your Excellence to the LAO 
Your background includes postsecondary education in a related field such as accounting, finance or business administration, plus a minimum of 5 years of significant and progressive directly related experience post-designation. 


Completion of a recognized accounting designation program (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) is required. 

You are a self-motivated individual with a blend of analytical skills, financial acumen and excellent communication and advisory skills.  Your experience within a public service environment is an advantage.  


**Candidates who do not yet have their designation but are actively working towards it may be considered at a lower classification.
