We are seeking an experience Controller who is seeking a temporary position for 15 months (January 2025 to March 2026).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Temporary Controller shall hold responsibility for managing the overall financial operations of Mayfair and will provide accurate information to the Executive Committee and Leadership Team, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and preparing financial reports. The Temporary Controller will be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to top management and externally. The Temporary Controller also maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes as required.
Position Reporting
This position reports to the Director of Finance.
This role oversees the Accounting and Payroll Manager, the Billing Manager and has indirect reports of Accounting, Billing and Payroll team members.
Responsibilities:

Utilize a hands-on style, actively supervise and coach the direct and indirect reports to maximize individual strengths and strive for excellence in customer service

Maintain a solid understanding of company operations and its business, its transactional and contractual obligations and become directly involved in specific business issues and their resolution

Build and maintain effective relationships with Executive committee (board of directors), Leadership Team and middle management
-
Maintain current processes for budgeting, routine monthly/quarterly/year-end, and forecasting updates
-
Report and present monthly updates, quarterly results and forecast updates, annual budget, year-end results, and other analysis to both the Executive Committee and Leadership Team

Report and present quarterly results and forecast updates, annual budget and year-end results to Partnership.

Prepare forecasting and annual budgets, with inputs from other department leaders and mangers

Prepare income and capital account calculations for Partnership

Prepare analysis as requested by Leadership Team and Executive Committee – including scenario analysis, potential new/removal service offering, comparison analysis in Excel and ensuring the inputs/results are user friendly; present interpretation of the analysis results such as trends, action steps, potential changes and recommendations

Be curious and explore alternatives to improve accounting close and processes performed by the finance team

Oversight and management of all operational finance systems, processes and procedures

Maintain a solid understanding of company operations and its business, its transactional and contractual obligations and become directly involved in specific business issues and their resolution

Liaise with banking facilities, review, and update line of credit agreement renewals

Liaise with insurance provider, review, and update insurance policy renewals

Ensure compliance of systems, processes, and procedures

Ensure financial results are reported accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with ASPE, corporate and regulatory requirements

Identify and assess the impact of regulatory or industry related accounting changes and determine internal policy or procedural adjustments in coordination with the finance team

Liaise with the external auditors in preparation of financial statements

Develop and maintain cost information that can be used to guide decision-making to support company goals, objectives, and strategies

Contribute to tactical planning, risk management, quality control, organizational development, planning processes, and other general functions

Performs other projects and duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Degree in accounting or business administration from an accredited institution
-
Professional designation, CPA, CA is required
-
10+ progressive experience in a financial environment
-
7+ years management experience is required
-
Experience in an owner-managed or multi-entity business would be an asset
-
Proven organization skills including preparing management reports, presentations, and action plans
-
Proven strengths in team building, written and verbal communications and meetings to leadership team and board of directors

Self-directed and self-motivated
-
Experience in preparing scenario analysis and comparison analysis using Excel from scratch with attention to details and making it user friendly for inputs/summaries

Have the interest and capability to search, investigate, evaluate, and present for consideration; innovative ideas to create new opportunities to help accelerate the achievement of growth expectations

Capable of defining and accomplishing strategies and tactics that will support the desired growth

Capable of delivering progressive strategies that meet the demands of a fast-paces, high-demand environment

Have the capability and flexibility to quickly understand the culture of the organization and manage the required changes in the company to achieve the goals, while maintaining its origin and essence

Excellent computer skills in various computer applications such as Microsoft Office suite with advanced level Excel skills
TOTAL REWARDS

Salary range for this position will be between $125,000 to $140,000 annually depending on education and experience. Weekly hours are 37.5 hours per week.

The position is eligible for the hybrid working program which is three days in the office per week and two days from your remote home office.
