Treasurer (Board Member)

<p>Foothills Land Trust (FLT) is an Alberta&nbsp;land trust&nbsp;that protects ecologically significant lands in Foothills County immediately southwest of Calgary.&nbsp; Protection is accomplished mainly through the placement of conservation easements on private lands; the easements run with title in perpetuity.&nbsp; The FLT currently has nine (9) conservation easements covering 645 hectares of land under its protection.</p> <p>FLT is looking for a volunteer Treasurer (Board Member) who can provide financial and treasury support to the Board of Directors.&nbsp; If you have a passion for landscapes and their protection, you will find this position very rewarding.</p> <p>Main requirements are:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in accounting with not-for-profit organizations, particularly charities</li> <li>Experience with money management and investment portfolios</li> <li>Familiarity with deferred revenue and project accounting (much of which is non-cash)</li> <li>Possession of an accounting degree is desirable, but not required.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks)</li> <li>The ability to work independently while being a vital part of a team of volunteers</li> <li>Residence in Foothills County or the Foothills Region (Okotoks, High River, Diamond Valley, Calgary) is preferable, but not essential</li> </ul> <p>A time commitment of between 5 and 10 hours per week, which varies seasonally.</p> <p>To find out more about this opportunity, please contact:</p> <p>Tom Maier, Treasurer of FLT, 587-435-3136 or <a href="mailto:tom.maier.volunteer@gmail.com">tom.maier.volunteer@gmail.com</a>.&nbsp; Tom has been the Treasurer since 2019 but has recently relocated outside the Foothills Region.&nbsp; Tom will be available for training and&nbsp;unlimited support for&nbsp;the new Treasurer</p> <p>Sandy Bruce, President of FLT, 403-949-2112 or <a href="mailto:sandybruce80@gmail.com">sandybruce80@gmail.com</a> &nbsp;&nbsp;Sandy was the FLT Treasurer between 2011 and 2019.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
