Senior Accounting Manager with Experience in the Hospitality Industry

ZS Holdings is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Manager with experience in the hospitality industry to join the team at the corporate office in Edmonton, Alberta. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, goal-oriented, and able to succeed in a fast-paced, team environment. We are looking for someone with a solid operational and technical accounting background that works to deliver results.

The Senior Accounting Manager will manage the accounting activity for multiple hotel properties within Alberta. They will ensure compliance with accounting principles and corporate policies, while actively researching to recommend improvements and to ensure the proper techniques are followed. They will provide routine statements and reports of all accounts, ensure the development and implementation of accounting policies and standards, and ensure a focus on improving business practices and efficiencies. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage accounting activity for multiple hotel properties within Alberta
  • Ensure compliance with standard accounting principles, practices, and corporate policies
  • Manage accounts payable and payroll functions
  • Prepare reports in support of financial statements and monthly closing of accounts
  • Work closely with other members of the organization
  • Ensure the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
  • Must have a strong operational and technical accounting background with a proven track record of success
  • Leadership capabilities and a high level of integrity
  • Must be able to succeed in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and goal-oriented environment
  • Focus on improving business practices and efficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies
  • Analyze effects of statutory accounting practices by studying regulations and providing guidance to ensure correct application of accounting principles
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed to ensure the company establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
  • Prepare routine reports and account analysis
  • Assist with the preparation of tax returns
