Supervisor, Accounting Services

Financial Management and Administrative Services (FMAS) at the Legislative Assembly Office is searching for a positive, innovative, people-focused individual with keen attention to detail, knowledge of accounting practices and a strong client orientation to join our team. In this role you are responsible for daily operations and supervision of the Accounting Assistants, providing guidance and “go-to” support on their tasks and giving feedback on their work. You require excellent supervisory skills to train and develop staff because in this role you will communicate job expectations, delegate duties and monitor and appraise performance. You will work with all members of the FMAS team to ensure financial transactions are in compliance and processed accurately.  Additionally you will work towards continuous improvement, analyzing current processes to increase efficiency.  In-depth knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and audit processes coupled with strong policy interpretation is required. As the supervisor of the Accounting Assistants, you will model exceptional client service, by using your excellent interpersonal skills, judgement and diplomacy, to establish relationships and ensure high quality service.

 

To be successful in this position you will require a postsecondary education in a related field and a completed valid professional accounting designation or in final stages of a designation. Four to seven years of progressively responsible experience related to accounting and financial analysis and previous experience supervising staff, including training, goal setting and conducting performance appraisals, is essential. Experience using Great Plains Dynamics and Management Reporter is preferred.

 

Salary range for this position is $70,680 to $92,652, dependent on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits package is available.
