Financial Accountant

The incumbent will be responsible for the timely delivery and accuracy of various accounting activities including the preparation of monthly closing, financial statements and account analysis. They will also assist in the preparation of forecasts and budgets, and is required to effectively review, understand and monitor internal financial controls and procedures.  The duties include the following responsibilities:

  • daily review and posting of journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable and project invoices;

  • manage monthly closing process, including reconciliations and working papers;

  • process month-end journal entries;

  • prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual and ad-hoc financial statements and reports;

  • highlight concerns regarding expenses, balances or cash flow to Management;

  • periodic review of aged WIP, receivables and payables to ensure guidelines are adhered to;

  • document and monitor internal controls;

  • assist in establishing new processes and procedures around internal reporting;

  • develop co-operative relationship with the project teams and look for opportunities to improve the flow of information to and from accounting;

  • participate in the preparation of the annual budgets and assist in the forecasting process as needed;
  • assist in internal and external financial audit requests, as needed;

  • assist the Controller with special projects and other task as required.
