Operations Business Analyst

An exciting opportunity exists for an accounting professional seeking a multifunctional role in both Operations and Finance. The successful candidate will work closely with Calgary and Field Operations and Finance to develop functional reporting and business intelligence through ACCEL’s financial systems to ensure our internal stakeholders have the necessary information to optimize their Capital and Operating expenditures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop management, operations and project reporting packages with detailed variance analysis on KPI’s, monthly results, budget, actuals and forecasts
  • Regular tracking of project costs and capital commitments
  • Work closely with and support operations and field staff on daily and monthly requirements.
  • Preparation of monthly operations and financial accruals, including capital, operating costs and production
  • Create reporting and provide operation business intelligence to identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies
  • Develop and prepare operating cost, capital and production budgets and maintain forecasts
  • Support operation and projects in the application of accounting policies and approvals
  • Ad hoc reporting as required


  • 8-10 years experience in Oil & Gas accounting and analysis with an associated degree and / or accounting designation
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform complex accounting or mathematical functions
  • Knowledge of oil and gas operations, including upstream, downstream, midstream and utilities
  • Superior Excel skills, data management and reporting capabilities
  • Experience with Qbyte, AFE Navigator, WellView and Siteview
  • Team player with ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal & written
  • Thrives in a fast paced/changing environment that is deadline driven
  • Well organized and with proven multitasking & prioritization skills
  • Travel overnight to field locations is required
