Our Team:

Reporting to the Utility Administration Team Leader and the Manager, Treasury and Utility Administration, this position deals with environmental services and cash management.

Environmental Services is comprised of the following departments:
• Utility Administration – responsible for rate setting, meter reading and utility billing
• Water Services – responsible for water distribution, sanitary collection and storm water
• Waste & Recycling Services – responsible for managing residential waste through programs, services and education

The Opportunity:

• Provide strategic financial analysis for operations
• Exception and variance reporting
• Assist in preparing short and long-term forecasts
• Create SQL queries to extract and provide in depth data analysis
• Create metrics to monitor and ensure data integrity
• KPI creation, tracking and reporting
• Create graphs, charts, worksheets and reports for performance reporting, resource allocation and trend analysis
• Identify gaps in data, define and implement solutions to close the gaps
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal departments
• Work with different team leaders within the Environmental Services department to validate current business processes and develop tools to improve efficiency
• Cash management, recording of investments and ensuring the proper internal controls and procedures are in place to mitigate risk
• Benchmarking and researching best municipal practices
• Business cases and Council reports as required

You Bring:

• Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is mandatory
• University Degree required
• Relevant certification in Business/Data Analysis
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Financial and Business Analyst
• SQL certification and experience is mandatory
• Strong Microsoft Office experience with expert Excel skills is mandatory
• Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is an asset
• CPA Public Sector certificate program would be an asset
• Preference will be given to individuals with Municipal experience
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong customer service and relationship building skills
• Strong report writing and presentation skills
• Demonstrated high attention to detail
• Supportive attitude towards process improvement and technological advancement
• Quick learner and self-starter - practical and flexible approach to work
