VP Finance

Our client, a west coast entrepreneurial, private professional services firm, with a diverse portfolio of engineering practices is seeking a VP Finance to join their team. The VP Finance will manage the company’s financial affairs to ensure operational excellence and fiscal integrity and compliance. This mandate includes leadership and accountability for operational accounting, forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, reporting, insurance, compliance, audit, as well as treasury and finance.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Providing oversight to all day-to-day general accounting functions including A/R, A/P, invoicing, payroll, project and property accounting
  • Preparation and review of budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, internal management reports and external reporting packages
  • Enhancing the accounting platform through the development of appropriate accounting policies, procedures, processes
  • Ensuring an adequate internal controls framework is in place
  • Driving operational efficiencies through system improvements and automation
  • Acting as a key liaison with external parties such as audit, legal, insurance firms and lending institutions
  • Working with the President on acquisitions, integrations, and debt financing strategies
  • Controlling treasury and cash management functions
  • Coordinating the year end audit process

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring 7-10+ years of senior finance/accounting experience, ideally in the real estate/professional services/engineering industry; and proven experience building and leading a strong finance and accounting team.  The ability to work in a hands on, entrepreneurial, dynamic professional services environment is critical. Advanced business and finance degree with professional designation preferred. This opportunity may be positioned in Vancouver or Edmonton with frequent travel to multiple locations.
