Senior Accountant

Our Edmonton West client is searching for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team in a full-time role. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and working paper preparation, variance analysis and preparation of corresponding journal entries, including: 


  • bank accounts for multiple branches
  • accounts receivable sub-ledgers to the general ledger control accounts
  • fixed asset continuity schedules


Additional responsibilities for the successful Senior Accountant will include assisting with the preparation of financial statements, discussion and analysis of operating results and assistance with the budgeting and forecasting process as well as entering adjustments in accounting system for pre-paid accounts, depreciation, etc., reviewing accounting records for accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.


In addition to a competitive base salary, our client offers tuition support to applicants pursuing a Canadian accounting designation.


About You:


The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of accounting software packages, Microsoft Excel and will be very comfortable performing data analysis projects. You will have 4+ years experience in financial statement preparation, preparation of supporting reconciliations and working papers and budget and forecast. 


We are looking for a self-motivated, self-managed Senior Accountant who recently completed or is currently enrolled in a professional Canadian accounting designation program (CPA).
