Supervisor, Accounting Services

Financial Management and Administrative Services (FMAS) at the Legislative Assembly Office is searching for a positive, team-oriented, people-focused individual with keen attention to detail, knowledge of accounting practices and a strong client service orientation to join our team. In this role you are responsible for daily operations and supervision of the Accounting Assistants, providing guidance and “go-to” support and giving feedback on their work. You require excellent supervisory skills to mentor, train and develop staff as in this role you will be key in communicating job expectations, mentoring and helping monitor and appraise performance. You will work with all members of the FMAS team to review financial transactions for compliancy and take a proactive role in resolving discrepancies.  Additionally you will work towards continuous improvement, analyzing current processes to increase efficiency using your innovative and analytical skills. Familiarity through previous experience of accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and audit processes coupled with strong policy interpretation is required. As the supervisor of the Accounting Assistants, you will model exceptional client service, by using your excellent interpersonal skills, judgement and diplomacy, to establish relationships and ensure high quality service.

To be successful in this position you will require knowledge of accounting principles through postsecondary education in a related field or equivalent experience. Four to seven years of progressively responsible experience related to accounting is required and several years previous experience directly supervising staff, including training, goal setting and conducting performance appraisals, is essential. Experience using Great Plains Dynamics and Management Reporter is preferred.

Salary range for this position is $70,680 to $99,432, dependent on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits package is available.
