Senior Accountant

Corporate Office – Edmonton Alberta

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE:

The position of Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for working with the CEO to drive the business forward and while providing leadership to the administration team for the day-to-day accounting functions.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

CEO

RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Business Decisions – analyzing changes and the effect on financials, etc.
  • Leadership of administrative and accounting professionals, including support and coverage of their positions if needed
  • Financial statement analysis, income statement budgets, balance sheet projections and cash flow management and projections
  • Accounting software management
  • External audit management
  • External and internal relationship and contract maintenance
  • Negotiation of various contractual obligations
  • Working with CEO and Divisional Management regarding performance and budgets
  • Continual analysis of internal processes and systems for efficiency
  • Other duties as required

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CA, CMA or CGA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong public speaking skills with experience completing business with government agencies
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting and reporting
  • Proactive, reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
