Do you have a passion for accounting and auditing?  Do you have an interest in Compliance and want to learn more? If so, we may have an opportunity for you!  The AGLC is looking to find one permanent experienced auditor to join our compliance team in Calgary, Alberta.

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Audit, this role is responsible for conducting complex audits to ensure AGLC licenced entities are in compliance with the Gaming and Liquor Act, Gaming and Liquor Regulations, board directives and AGLC Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines.  The audits are performed with the objective of protecting the integrity of Alberta’s charitable gaming model and to ensure gaming funds are properly accounted for and used for eligible purposes. The audits will include verifying gaming funds are received, vouching that gaming expenditures exist and were spent on eligible purposes, interpreting legislation and policies, summarizing findings in a report and making recommendations from the findings.   

This position requires a high degree of professionalism, expertise and analytical decision making skills, as well as the ability to resolve conflict situations, exercise discretion, demonstrate good judgment, and maintain confidentiality.  To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable assessing business plans, analysing financial statements, performing ratio analysis and risk assessments.  Candidates require a thorough knowledge of the Gaming and Liquor Act and the Gaming and Liquor Regulation. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) as well as interpersonal skills are necessary for the position.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
• 4 years’ experience in the auditing field with some accounting. 
• 2 years of experience with regulatory audit is preferred.
• Fraud investigation or Internal Audit Designation (CFE, CIA) is preferred.
• You must possess a valid Driver’s License.


NOTE:  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.  This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.

The Audit Services Branch:
• Provides ongoing monitoring to maintain the financial integrity of Alberta’s gaming industry by conducting audits and due diligence investigations of licensed gaming facilities and charities.
