The organisation has grown significantly since they first received support from AfID, and are currently requesting two pro bono accountants to oversee different elements of their accounting, financial management & analysis needs:

The organisation has grown in recent years, upscaling its activities and increasing staff. They now have several donors that require difference finance and audit requirements. The department has some experienced staff but lacks someone with the strategic and financial experience to guide them. They are therefore looking for an Interim Finance Manager to review and improve systems, controls and processes, identifying gaps and strengthening the accounting function.

They have also diversified their income, and at present receive funding from donors/grants as well as a result of social enterprises they run. The second pro bono accountant will help them put a clear system to segregate the income from donors and that from the social enterprise.

This voluntary assignment is a unique opportunity to apply your professional skills in an international development setting, significantly contribute to the support and development of local staff and have a lasting impact. If you are a qualified accountant, looking to make a difference and gain relevant international experience to help you transition into the sector, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

To express your interest in this role or explore other volunteering opportunities in Africa, Asia or South America, please email your CV and cover letter to AfID and visit the Accounting for International Development website.
