Description of Charity/Foundation:
The Calgary Girls Choir was founded in 1995 by Ms. Elaine Quilichini. Her vision and passion has built one of the most celebrated choirs in the world. Ms. Quilichini invites young girls and women (5 years old and up) who love to sing to join the Calgary Girls Choir. Our exceptional choirs are based on the Kodály philosophy and include exceptional choral music education, performance, and touring opportunities. Our girls and young women develop poise, confidence, responsibility and have lots of fun!
Description of Role:
VOLUNTEER Controller: review accounting entries and financial schedules prepared by Office Manager; prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow and financial statements; coordinate the annual external audit; strengthen internal controls and provide some segregation of duties; improve and document accounting procedures. Assist Board members with back office system enhancements to support accounting procedures (Wild Apricot and QuickBooks Online.) Reports to Board Executive at least monthly. Role is very hands-on, as Office Manager has little accounting background but is very willing to learn. Estimated time required 8-12 hours/week, on your own schedule, though ideally available to work some days onsite in person with choir staff. Current Acting Controller is available for transition support until May 2019.
CPA or variant. Must have detailed hands-on accounting experience. Experience with Quickbooks an asset. Interest in/experience with system improvements and integrations very welcome.
Interest in music and children's arts a plus, not required. Police check required.
