Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) delivers leading sports, entertainment and other special event programming to fans and patrons in Canada and the United States. Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for assisting with the full cycle accounting process for Katz Group and subsidiary companies. In addition to being responsible for assisting with the full cycle accounts payable process for Katz Group.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for preparing and posting month end journal entries
  • Must complete monthly investment sub ledger reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for investment accounts
  • Responsible for receiving, entering, and paying accounts payable invoices
  • Prepares and files GST returns and supporting working papers
  • Prepares bank reconciliations
  • Verifies invoices and verifies compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Prepares and posts journal entries
  • Provides input to the annual budget processes, as needed
  • Other administrative accounting tasks

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting is required
  • Minimum five (5) years in an accounting background or related field is required
  • CA/CPA Designation will be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks and Caseware is an asset
  • Experience with other computerized accounting software (i.e. Great Plains, MR, etc.) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounts payable processing, investment accounting and accrual accounting is an asset
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with staff
  • Understanding of concepts and underlying details, ability to identify errors, and foresight to strategize and make decisions with consideration to both operational and financial implications
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently, and complete tasks on a timely basis, while ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail
  • Deadline oriented and thrives in a fast paced, dynamic environment
