Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Accountant’s main responsibilities include multiple intercompany processes, the recording of asset retirement obligations (ARO) and environmental remediation liabilities (ERL) entries, accountability for liabilities and non-trade receivables accounts, review and analysis of below-the-line reporting for the Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash (N,P,K) portfolio as well as multiple balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and schedules.

Key Tasks:

  • This role will assist in internal and external reporting activities and will interface with:
    • Corporate Accounting team members
    • Business Unit teams
    • Safety Health and Environment Team
    • Tax
    • Treasury
    • Corporate Reporting
  • Month end management reporting and accounting
  • Recording of ARO and ERL entries for the N,P,K business units
  • Management and recording of multiple Inter and Intra Company entries
  • Variance analysis of G&A and Other income expenses accounts
  • Recording of Business segment allocation entries
  • Recording US GAAP entries
  • Support of N,P,K Business Units with ad-hoc requests
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and governance
  • Participate in projects as required

  • Interprets and reaches conclusions, develops alternative solutions, demonstrating basic understanding of related work areas/disciplines.

Qualifications:

  • Attainment of an undergraduate degree
  • Professional accounting designation
  • Minimum of four years of accounting experience, preferably in a large multi-national company
  • Understanding of IFRS
  • Experience with a large ERP (SAP experience preferred) and consolidation tool (BPC preferred)
  • Advanced level Excel skills,
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively collaborate across finance groups to achieve cross functional success
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Ability to work independently
