Financial Analyst

West Lake Energy Corp.  is a privately owned, intermediate producer with core assets located in the Lloydminster and Provost areas.   West Lake's strategy is to grow its production base in both its heavy and medium areas through organic drilling complemented with focused acquisitions.  West Lake has applied advanced drilling and completion techniques, which has allowed its wells to achieve compelling econonmic returns at sustained low oil prices.  West Lake continues to execute on a material mulit-year drilling program. 

We are currently recruiting for a Financial Analyst.  This position will be located in our Calgary Office and provides the opportunity to be involved in a full range of responsibilities including the following: 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Financial Analysis

• Prepare quarterly capital forecast and capital expenditure reports
• Create monthly corporate capital accruals; review accrual information provided by office and field staff for accuracy and completeness
• Analyze monthly capital spending with comparison to budgeted category amounts
• Assist with the month end close process
• Maintain and create cost centres, working interest splits & AFEs
• Prepare and analyze Operations and Capital reports in the Pandell JV Nexus environment 

Joint Venture Responsibilites: 

• Analyze and record non-operated joint interest billings (JIB); ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue, royalties, capital, and opex within the terms of the governing agreements
• Investigate and resolve queries and/or disputes on operated JIBs to collect receivables in a timely manner
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with JV partners and other departments

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 2-4 years of accounting experience (Joint Venture, Accounting Systems, Accounting Firm, or General Oil and Gas Industry)
• CPA Candidate 
• Strong computer skills, including accounting system and Microsoft Office, Pandell JV Nexus familiarity a plus
• Detail oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines
