Staff accountant

As a member of our team you will work closely with the Partner and other senior staff meeting the needs of a variety of clientele. Your technical and organizational skills will enable you to work directly with clients, preparing year end engagements and specialty work if required. Additionally, you will be involved with the preparation and implementation of tax-planning strategies for our clients and take the lead on the preparation of tax returns. The ideal candidate enjoys working with clients and other staff, providing ongoing support and opportunities for client development.

 

This position is for a full-time/permanent job. We can offer flexible work arrangements to facilitate the balancing of professional obligations with personal responsibilities.

 

Role and Responsibilities

 

Ø    Small and medium sized client engagements.

Ø    Working closely with other members of our team and tax planning work for clients.

Ø    Planning and the preparation of tax returns.

Ø    Advising on planning opportunities, tax minimization strategies, and compliance issues.

Ø    Become part of the team in servicing the planning and compliance needs of clients.

Ø    At times, business needs arise and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountability required for their job. Accordingly we offer flexibility to provide for personal needs as an exchange.

Ø    Work with other office members in meeting the clients’ needs and attracting new work to the firm.

Ø    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both CRA and clientele is a necessity.

Ø    Dedication and strong work effort.

Ø    Ability to lead medium sized client engagements and interact effectively with clients.

Ø    Preferred minimum 1-3 years in a public accounting firm.

Ø    Professional Accounting Designation (CPA - CA, CMA or CGA) is preferred.

Ø    Experience with Caseware, Taxprep, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting will be considered an asset.
