Volunteers to join SCMA Alberta's Finance & Audit Committee

Finance & Audit Committee Members needed

The Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) of Canada is the national voice for advancing and promoting the supply chain management profession. SCMA Alberta is one of the 10 Provincial Institutes of the SCMA and is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors. See: http://scma.com/ab/scma-alberta-about for more information.

The SCMA Alberta Board of Directors (Board) is seeking 3 volunteers to join the Finance & Audit Committee (FAC). The FAC reports to the Board.

The primary role of the FAC is to assist the Board in ensuring the assets of SCMA Alberta are properly safeguarded and its resources are utilized effectively. To do this, the FAC oversees the processes for managing and reporting on financial activities and related internal controls. Specific duties of the FAC include: monthly review of the financial statements, recommending and assessing the external auditor, reviewing and approving the annual audit plan, reviewing and recommending the year-end financial statements and audit findings etc.

Volunteers serve on the FAC for three years and attend Financial Review meetings monthly to review financial and audit documents in advance of Board meetings. 

The ideal candidates should understand financial statement preparation and analysis, financial management & accountability, audit, risk management, investment and business leadership. Hence, we are seeking individuals with the following qualifications:

  • CPA designation (required)
  • SCMP designation (preferred)
  • Able to commit 2-4 hours per month (required)
  • Able to commit a term of 3 years (required)
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector (preferred)
