SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE:
The position of Corporate Accountant will be primarily responsible for working with the General Manager/Owner to drive the business forward and while providing leadership to the administration team for the day-to-day accounting functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Business Decisions – analyzing changes and the effect on financials, etc.
- Leadership of administrative and accounting professionals, including support and coverage of their positions if needed
- Financial statement analysis, income statement budgets, balance sheet projections and cash flow management and projections
- Accounting software management
- External audit management
- External and internal relationship and contract maintenance
- Negotiation of various contractual obligations
- Working with General Manager/Owner and Divisional Management regarding performance and budgets
- Continual analysis of internal processes and systems for efficiency
- Accounting tasks including Project Billing, Payroll, A/R and Collections
- Other duties as required
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- CA, CMA or CGA preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience supervising employees
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong public speaking skills with experience completing business with government agencies
- Must be detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Proactive, reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
