Our Edmonton client, a local owner managed company, located in the Northwest, is looking to add an Accounting Manager to their team. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for leading the daily accounting operations including payroll and benefits. As the Accounting Manager, you will be managing a small team, preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, managing payroll and benefits, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly and annual financial statements, performance reporting, maintaining banking relationships, and dealing with project accounting, and multi-provincial indirect taxes.

- Prepare and deliver relevant and timely reporting of financial data like the monthly flash report, key financial metrics, and actual spend against budgets/outlook
- Organize a variety of technical accounting analyses, procedures, and policies
- Encourage and manage the full accounting team performance so that close deadlines are met
- Regularly review and inspect balance sheets and income statement accounts
- Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, which includes document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes
- Assist with job costing and project accounting
- Ensure any complex accounting issues are researched, addressed and dealt with in an effective and timely manner
The ideal candidate for Accounting Manager will possess:
- CPA designation
- Strong GST and PST tax experience
- Strong technical background in accounting and financial reporting
- Payroll experience
- Strong command of project accounting and job costing
- 3+ years of recent relevant financial experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
- Solid technology and analytical abilities
- Active problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity
- Experience with Sage 50 / Simply Accounting preferred
