Senior Financial Accountant - Financial Services Division

What do you need to bring to this position?

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in planning and budgeting, which includes the coordination and development of information for the 4 year financial forecast and budget, the City budget submission, EPL’s annual internal budget, the 10 year capital plan, budget cash flows and adjustments, and debt forecasting. Cost analysis and treasury management are also important aspects of this position. Using your exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities, you will assist in reviewing and developing recommendations relating to financial policies and procedures and internal controls/audits. Working alongside the Accounting Manager, you will support the development and coordination of information required for the year-end audit. You will be responsible for the accounting of tangible capital assets and capital project reporting.

 

As the ideal candidate, you work well independently and are able to multi-task work activities and troubleshoot issues that arise. You have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and internal customers. You will support EPL by providing training, advice, and analysis as a technical expert on generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls.

Qualifications:

 

  • Related degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. 
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent, progressively responsible accounting experience. 
  • Experience in a public sector environment is an asset. 
  • Experience using SAP financial systems is preferred.

Pay Band: $38.56 to 49.22 per hour*

*Approximately $70,449 to $89,924 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.
