Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will apply their accounting skills to full cycle accounting and financial reporting, including developing and executing month end processes, financial analysis, dashboards and external reporting.

Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage the month-end process including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly financial statements; including various financial reports as required by internal parties
  • Refining and maintain monthly departmental reporting
  • Preparation of interim and year-end audit documentation and working papers
  • Complete monthly investment reporting and identify any deviance from the Investment Policy Statement
  • Ensure all financial reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ensure variances and anomalies within all areas of financial reporting are accounted for with detailed explanations
  • Complete financial analytics and be able to give recommendations
  • Monitor and review financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Working closely with the Accounting Coordinator to support financial reporting for the Foundation’s lotteries including financial statement preparation, audit working papers and preparation of AGLC Financial Reports
  • Preparation of year-end forecasting reports

    Compliance & Benchmarking

  • Complete the annual Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Benchmarking survey and prepare an analysis of the results
  • Complete GST reconciliations and prepare remittances to CRA
  • Complete the annual T3010 filing for remittance to CRA

    Budgeting

  • Prepare historical information to assist with the annual budgeting process
  • Support the annual budgeting and planning process across all departments

    Other

  • Maintain the Accounting Procedures Manual
  • Any other duties commensurate with this position as required

Qualifications  

  • University Degree or College Diploma
  • Current enrollment or planned enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP)
  • CPA designation considered an asset
  • Proven accounting experience
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Thorough understanding of charitable tax receipting regulations
  • Ability to adapt accounting principles to work within Foundation processes and systems
  • Previous experience with Raiser’s Edge and/or Financial Edge database considered an asset
  • Previous experience with QuickBooks Online considered an asset
