One of our locally-owned clients that operate in a unique area of the customer service industry currently has an interesting opportunity for a full-time Financial Controller. The role will report directly to the Managing Partner and the position will mentor and oversee a junior bookkeeper. Our client’s office is located just outside the downtown core, and parking is available on site.

The ideal candidate will:
- have a minimum of two years post designation accounting experience as a Canadian CPA
- have a strong working knowledge of Simply Accounting, QBO, as well as an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
- have previous success in a dynamic environment and possess the desire and ability to lead and design innovative processes
- thrive in a relationship-driven, entrepreneurial environment
- be energized by pressure, intrigued by puzzles, and previous exposure with foreign exchange transactions would be an asset
- be driven by precision, keen to contribute, and confident making financial recommendations to Partners
- believe that transparent communication is the key to everyone’s success
- love to juggle special projects, daily responsibilities, and the standards of a busy office
Responsibilities include:
- dynamically managing the day-to-day business
- reviewing existing systems and procedures and implementing required changes to improve and streamline systems and procedures
- leading the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package
- initiating and collaborating on the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow management
- preparing GST returns and government remittances and filings
- managing and preparing the company’s accounting records including detailed quarterly reports
- preparing financial statements and financial reporting package
- managing all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, and revenue recognition
- mentoring and overseeing the internal bookkeeper in completing monthly and quarterly tasks
- considering, analyzing, and reporting on the impact of provincial and federal tax law changes on the company
- managing the month-end close process and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of journal entries
- leading special projects and potential business acquisitions as they arise
