Accountant, Investment Finance

Position Summary

The Investment Finance Department is responsible for performing highly specialized accounting and financial reporting functions across a multi-layered investment pool structure for AIMCo’s clients. This department provides accounting guidance to internal and external clients in their on-going financial reporting and statutory audits, as well as providing the accounting support to all projects and initiatives as needed by Management and the Board. As an asset owner of AIMCo portfolio accounting system, the Investment Accounting team oversees accounting configuration in all systems to ensure compliance with various accounting regulatory frameworks, and provides UAT approval on all accounting system and operational process changes.

Reporting to the Manager, Investment Finance, the Accountant, Investment Finance is responsible for:

  • Monitoring accounting system (SimCorp Dimension or “SCD”) configuration to ensure compliance with AIMCo Accounting policy.
  • Participating in requirement gathering, supporting business cases, developing and executing UAT, and providing accounting signoff on defects, incidents, enhancement, change management initiates and/or projects.
  • Reviewing all weekly and ad hoc deployment requests and providing deployment approval on all accounting system and operational process changes.
  • Maintaining Investment Finance Dashboard to report on daily progress on defects, incidents, enhancement, change management initiatives, and/or projects.
  • Maintaining FAP and FAM (Financial Accounting Principal and Financial Accounting Method) documentation for existing AIMCo Investment universe.
  • Monitoring SCD access changes.
  • Accurate and timely processing of Annual Impairment, ad hoc BV corrections and hedge effectiveness.
  • Building, improving, and verifying new tools used to validate and report NAV.
  • Performing work to meet both internal and external audit requirements.
  • Assisting with clients accounting queries and supporting client reporting.
  • Performing other such tasks as are required by the Investment Finance Department.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Accredited university degree supplemented by several years of relevant experience.
  • Working towards or possessing a recognized accounting/finance designation .
  • Good understanding of financial markets, including experience with complex investment instruments.
  • Proficient with Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Power BI and Power Point), with advanced level excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas.
  • Experience working with SQL and SimCorp Dimensions.
  • Strong attention to detail, and excellent technical and communication skills (both verbal and written).
