Senior Accountant

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Responsible for financial reporting including financial statement preparation (monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting package to parent company)
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provisions
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliations for all required accounts, and coordinate, monitor and report on accounting department's overall account reconciliation process
  • Liaise with management team and advise on cost management, cost control measures and the cost effectiveness of their program areas
  • Assist the Controller with the coordination of external audits and quarter reviews
  • Preparation and oversight of Accounts Payable and Receivable for the Canadian entity
  • Preparation of bill payments, wire transfers, and other online banking access management
  • Preparation of weekly cash forecast
  • Preparation of monthly bank reporting for bank covenant purposes
  • Regulatory filings such as WCB, GST and PST
  • Monthly Statistics Canada industry reporting

Qualifications & Education

  • Professional Accounting Designation 
  • One (1) to three (3) years of post-designation accounting experience, preferably in a medium-sized company
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively collaborate across finance groups to achieve cross functional success
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiar with common accounting programs and proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP an asset
