Manager, Experience Assessments & Advisory

The Manager, Experience Assessments & Advisory is responsible for the overall management of the experience assessment component of the CPA Practical Experience Requirements. This includes managing processes to ensure that assessments are completed accurately and timely along with managing staff and processes for advising candidates on the Practical Experience Requirements.

Please note this is a temporary contract position up to December 31, 2020, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of the Practical Experience department by overseeing the work and performance of staff, and creating departmental goals, plans and performance measurement.
  • Triage assessments and assign work, ensuring timelines are met by reviewing the progress of assessments completed by staff, completing assessments during peak volumes, and handling more complex situations.
  • Monitor assessor timelines on a weekly basis and develop strategies to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Provide support and guidance to contract staff in their assessment of candidate experience.
  • Lead weekly reviewer meetings to discuss complicated situations and ensure consistency. 
  • Develop and oversee the monthly practical experience reporting tool monitoring process to ensure that data integrity is maintained.
  • Handle escalated candidate issues, with support from the Director.

Requirements

  • Must be a Chartered Professional Accountant in good standing with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of post-designation experience with a minimum of 2 years managing staff within a public practice environment.
  • Familiarity with the CPA Practical Experience Requirements and Pre-approved Program Route programs a benefit.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute projects according to established business plans.
  • Ability to work in a fluid, changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate technical knowledge and application in a practical manner.
  • Work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • Fast paced work environment.
  • Some travel, including overnight, may be required.

Some work outside of regular hours, including weekends, may be required.
