What you will do

  • Manage all functions of the transactional accounting team, including general accounting entries, intercompany billings, reconciliations, variance analysis and all other monthly/annual financial close activities
  • Oversee all global accounting activities (currently includes Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Austrailia), ensuring integrity of financial information and consistency in processes across regions
  • Ensure international entities maintain accounting records to support local tax and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Streamline day to day and month end close procedures to shorten financial reporting timelines
  • Communicate all accounting policies and procedures to ensure best practices are adhered to
  • Manage the integration of new entities into the general accounting processes
  • Maintain accounting system master data, including chart of accounts and teams; assist with the chart of accounts and team redesign to allow for improved budgeting and reporting for locations and teams
  • Assist the team with daily process issues, process documentation and improvement, ensuring adequate internal controls are in place
  • Perform key monitoring control in areas of bank reconciliations, balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, tax remittance reconciliations, etc
  • Support the tax filings and external audit process for all regions
  • Lead and provide training to accounting team members
  • Other ad hoc accounting projects as required

 

What you bring 

  • Professionally designated accountant (CPA) with 7 plus years’ of managerial experience  
  • Hands on, deadline driven professional with a demonstrated track record of success in a similar role
  • A strong customer service focus with knowledge of principles and processes for providing support and services to both internal and external customers
  • Solid project management skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes
  • Familiarity with international business and requirements for local tax and statutory reporting
  • Experience working cross functionally to execute on systems and other process improvements
  • Ability to understand and evaluate technology; comfortable with the use of technology to improve processes
  • Strong detail driven individual with the ability to clearly communicate results
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and practices is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel
  • Proficiency with Intacct accounting software or other comparable accounting software
