Manager, Student Recruitment

The Manager, Student Recruitment supports the Director, Communications and Student Recruitment  by providing strategic leadership and developing and executing student recruitment activities that foster partnerships internally within CPA Alberta and externally with stakeholders, including, most importantly, students and educators. Student recruitment plays a key role in ensuring goals for the growth of the profession are achieved through effective promotion of the accounting profession and CPA designation within Alberta’s post-secondary institutions and high schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of student recruitment staff across two offices in Calgary and Edmonton.  
  • Provide effective and efficient management of all student recruitment initiatives and activities in order to meet the goals set in CPA Alberta’s Smart Growth strategy for attracting qualified individuals to the profession.
  • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to raise awareness and interest in the accounting profession and the CPA designation.
  • Promote CPA education programs and provide information to qualified individuals about the Professional Education Program (PEP), Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF), and preparatory courses.
  • Serve as a key CPA Alberta liaison and build relationships with post-secondary institutions and high schools.
  • Collaborate with the CPA Western School of Business to ensure accuracy of information and a positive experience for those considering entrance into CPA programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in business, accounting, marketing, communications or other related disciplines.
  • A CPA designation, and/or knowledge of the CPA profession and the profession’s Professional Education Program (PEP) are valuable assets.
  • Two to three years of experience in student recruitment or related environment would be an asset.
  • Minimum of two years of people management or supervisory experience is required.
  • Proven ability to represent an organization in a professional manner with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel and Word.

Working Conditions

  • Fast paced work environment.
  • Must be able to lift 20lbs.
  • Some travel, including overnight, may be required.
  • Some work outside of regular hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
