Financial Controller

Job Summary:

As Financial Controller you are head of the accounting department and record keeping within the company.  It is the controller’s responsibility to oversee all aspects of the accounting system for both Epiphany Group and its subsidiaries. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Provide management reports to Executive team
  • Recommend benchmark against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Manage the production and analysis of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide financial analyses, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Maintain relationships of industry spheres of influence

 

Qualifications:

·         Computer software skills, particularly Excel and accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, etc.)

·         Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial computations and concepts

·         Problem solving and analytical reasoning skills
