Volunteer Public Accountant

Help a Buddy Fund is a not-for-profit corporation (# 1133627-4) that raises awareness of the effects of neglect and abuse towards animals in the province of Alberta, with a focus on animals kept in the care of shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries over a long-term period due to extra efforts required in their rehabilitation. The Fund aims to alleviate the financial burden of those who care for animal welfare in our province.

Your role as a volunteer public accountant will assist Help a Buddy Fund with its application to become a registered charity in the short-term, and maintaining stakeholder relations over the long-term. Help a Buddy Fund was established on April 3, 2019 and has a fiscal period from January 1st-December 31st.

Responsiblities:

  • Review financial statements as requested, approximately twice a year
  • Prepare a year-end audited financial statement
  • Lend your name to documents requiring a public accountant signature by the Not-For-Profit Act and Canada Revenue Agency

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountat designation
  • Personal values that align with Help a Buddy Fund, with a focus on support for improved animal welfare and giving back to your community
