The Sr. Advisor Tidal Power & NGL Accounting

This is a temporary position with a 12 month term.

 

Primary Focus

The Sr. Advisor Tidal Power & NGL Accounting is responsible for operational, financial and derivative accounting, in depth analysis and reporting, regulatory filings, maintaining financial controls and processes and participating in the system development and other improvements in the Power and NGL businesses.

 

Responsibilities

Operational Accounting

Review invoice reconciliations, approve invoice uploads and entries into Oracle A/R and A/P sub ledgers.
Assists in the resolution of complex system and data discrepancies.
Assist with set up for counterparties as new or revised contracts are established.
Develops excel models and processes used by advisors.
Provides guidance and training to advisors.

 

Financial Accounting

Prepares and inputs journal entries, including accruals into general ledger system.
Performs analysis between Oracle and risk reporting to support financial controls.
Analysis and verification of contribution margins.
Analysis of inventories.
Analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Supports the Enbridge corporate accounting process (monthly, quarterly and year-end).

 

Derivative Accounting

Analyze and account for realized derivatives, normalization adjustments for realized derivatives and inventory lower of cost or net realizable value.
Prepare and analyze normalization adjustments for corporate book as required.
Assist in the distribution of portfolio hedges to individual trading strategies.
Ensure accuracy of inter-company derivative accounting.

 

Financial and Management Reporting

Prepare, analyze and explain monthly earnings to and with front office, including analysis for various Tidal strategies.
Detailed analytical support for Tidal front office.
Prepares management reporting, earnings reports, forecasts and budgets.
Other financial analysis as required.

 

Regulatory and Tax Reporting

Review and analyze data to meet US and Canadian regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
Ensure regulatory requirements meet all deadlines.

 

Financial Controls and Processes

Assists with development, documentation and effective operation of financial controls and overall accounting processes, including SOX controls.
Supports the development and maintenance of effective internal, GAAP and SOX financial controls.
Reviews information for audit requests and work with auditors as required.
Maintain effective working relationships with Audit Services, Corporate Internal Controls and external auditors.

 

Project Support and Continuous Improvement

Participates in system development and maintenance and other special projects which increase the capabilities and efficiencies of the financial functions which support Tidal.
Works closely with Enbridge TIS/MRM groups on system development initiatives.
Supports the continuous improvement process.

 

 

 

Qualifications

University degree in a related financial discipline (accounting, finance or financial risk management).
Professional accounting designation.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive working experience in a marketing or financial accounting work environment.
Demonstrated strong analytical abilities and willingness to learn and grow in new areas.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build consensus and promote ideas for both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong commercial focus.
Highly motivated and energetic self-starter possessing strong customer focus, while delivering on key strategic plans.
Need for strong ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks.
Ability to work on both functional and project type work assignments.
Strong excel skills with the ability to manage large amounts of data.
Experience in Canadian and US power markets and NGL’s considered an asset.
Working knowledge of Oracle financial systems and commodity marketing risk systems would be considered an asset.
