ClearStream Energy is looking for you. As a Finance Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will work within Finance in our Sherwood Park location to ensure you represent ClearStream as a leader in energy and industrial markets.

The Senior Project Accountants position is responsible for providing analytical analysis for daily, weekly and monthly operational decision making. This includes with a complete month end variance analysis comparable to forecast/budget. This position will also be responsible for a detailed bottom up approach forecast and budgeting. Forecasting accuracy must be maintained a very high level. In addition, preparing and reviewing reports for finance and operations team.

What You Do:

  • You will be responsible for Project Profitability analysis, pulling detailed reports and dissecting the information to identify key performance drivers. Summarizing and communicating findings to respective stakeholders. This includes project costing analysis, product/service line, and customer profitability analysis.
  • Detailed gross margin variance analysis, comparing actual results to forecast and/or budget.
  • As a team member, you will collaborate with Operations Team in developing a 12 month rolling Budget/forecast. High level of detail and accuracy is expected. Forecasting needs to be drilled down to its individual inputs, bottom up approach.
  • Ability to review financial information, strong understanding of accruals and accounting knowledge.
  • Monitor the progress of projects, investigate variances, approve expenses, and ensure proper account allocation and project billings are issued and payments collected. 
  • Strong understanding of business processes, review project structures prior to projects being setup in Great Plains
  • Developing reports that provide high level of transparency to its stakeholders
  • Preparing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) at project level, understanding the drivers for the changes in DSO. Reviewing weekly and monthly Accounts receivable aging report and unbilled revenue report.
  • You will maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project
  • Working with Operations, prepare business cases and/or rate sheets for any upcoming opportunities. Prepare financial analysis and cash flow curves for bid proposals.
  • Preparing reports to assess contract burn rate
  • Preparing journal entries and adjustments.
  • Preparing non-bill reports, investigate all project expenses not billed to customers.
  • Preparing weekly cash flow reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, efficient and self-motivated. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information as required.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Highly accurate and precise in completing repetitive tasks.
  • Competent in project cost control fundamentals (labour, materials, equipment, and third party services).
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Competent with word processing and presentation tools.
  • Ability to successfully operate in a high pressure, deliverable focused environment.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel. University Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.

What You Bring:

  • University Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA or CPA) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Project Accounting role.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry preferred.
  • Previous experience with forecasting and project profitability analysis.
  • Experience with customer audit.
  • Strong understanding of client contract, payment terms, special arrangements, customer audit, burden reimbursement.
  • Strong attention to detail with high level of analytical skills.
  • Must have forecasting and budgeting experience
  • Great Plains experience would be an asset
