Accounting Manager / Controller

Role Description

You will be responsible for managing all accounting and administration functions of the Club.  Our administration team will rely on you for leadership, training and support as we service our membership of over 1,400. You will ensure accuracy of information and adherence to policies and legislation with respect to payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management and other functions. Key Responsibilities

· Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external reports, cash flows and forecasts

· Assist with annual operating and capital budget creation

· Ensure the general ledger, capital assets and all transactions are managed in Jonas accounting software

· Manage bank accounts, loans, leases and other credit facilities with multiple banks

· Liaise with auditors to ensure a clean, efficient audit on an annual basis

· Oversee the set-up, management and maintenance of all accounts receivable and payable

· Respond to all vendor, member and personnel inquiries with regards to house charges, AR, and AP

· Manage the payroll process for over 200 employees and contractors

· Oversee GST, payroll submissions, and overall compliance with the CRA

· Maintain internal control procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and minimize risk

· Develop, document and implement efficient processes across all areas of involvement

 

Desired Skills & Experience

· Five or more years of full-cycle accounting experience for a small or medium sized business

· Management experience in administration or accounting

· Experience with Jonas Club Management Software or mastery of other accounting software

· Demonstrated mastery with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook

· Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks and still produce accurate and timely results

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to travel reliably to and from Priddis Greens 12 months of the year

· Knowledge of the game of golf and/or private club operations

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Pleasant and professional phone manner

· Strong time management skills

 

Education Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration

· CPA designation

· In lieu of designation or particular education, significant experience in a similar role will be considered

 

 Work Scope & Schedule

This position requires some flexibility in hours worked but is designed to be a Monday to Friday administrative role. The expectation is to work between 38-44 hours per week. It is understood that due to the seasonality of our business, you will work some daily and weekly overtime without overtime pay as a salaried employee.

Although this role is in management, we are a small team which requires a hands-on approach to accomplish goals. You will be expected to take time off in lieu of overtime pay when time permits to maintain a healthy work life balance. You will be provided with the opportunity to take two consecutive days off per week.
