BASIC FUNCTION/SCOPE:
POSITION:
The Controller/Sr Accounting Manager will report to the PRESIDENT/COO. The position will have primary day-to-day responsibility for managing and controlling all accounting-related activities of the company.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all aspects of the Accounting functions of the organization.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are maintained and are in compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Provides all required information on a timely basis which requires careful scheduling of process activities and schedules of themselves and the team members.
- Provides ongoing review of expenses by branch and corporate and making recommendations to reduce cost and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Coordination and preparation of yearly audit and bi-annual audits.
- Preparation of working paper for annual US and Canadian tax returns for external accountants.
- Preparation of yearly budget, ad-hoc forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Preparation of annual auto and general liability insurance and benefits renewal.
- Review of vehicle and building lease renewals, and landlord operating expense reconciliations.
- Overseeing the physical inventory counts from an accounting perspective in cooperation with the operations leadership.
IMPORTANT BUT SUPPORTING ELEMENTS:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
- Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
- Participate in financial initiatives and, assisting the President/COO
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation a strong advantage
- 5 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
- PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge and Excel is required
