Description of Charity/Foundation:
A music education program whose goal is to provide a setting for young string players to grow in a positive and nurturing environment. In the past twelve years, the founding directors have been able to provide numerous opportunities for students to excel, both musically and personally. High standards of playing are expected and all students have access to fine teaching from local, national and international artists. The program mandate is:

To provide a positive and inclusive atmosphere for string students to develop their skills, their love of music, and their friendships.
To provide quality musical education in a non-judgmental environment, where all students, parents, and instructors are treated respectfully and equitably.
To provide opportunities for students to fulfill their full potential, both musically and personally.

Description of Role:
Treasurer role description
Oversees and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to the board of directors,
Ensures that record-keeping and accounts meet the conditions of funders or statutory bodies
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Manages bank accounts
Sets up appropriate systems for book-keeping, payments, petty cash
Ensures everyone handling money keeps proper records and documentation
Present regular reports on the organisation’s financial position
Prepare accounts for audit and liaising with the auditor, as required
Present accounts at the AGM
Attends board meetings

Certification/Education Required:
No certification is required. But familiarity with Quickbooks or book keeping would be an asset.
Detail orientated is essential
