Company Summary:
Connacher Oil and Gas Limited (“Connacher” or the “Company”) is a private in situ oil sands developer, producer, and marketer of bitumen. The Company operates two steam-assisted gravity drainage facilities located near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Position Summary:
Connacher is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join the finance group on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst will assist with various month-end close processes, processing invoices, and other ad-hoc accounting-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft various financial reporting deliverables: quarterly and annual external financial statements with related disclosures; monthly internal financial statements; and monthly budget-to-actual analysis
- Complete various month-end accruals and working papers related to: revenue, diluent, transportation, royalties, and G&A
- Review and implement complex accounting transactions and pronouncements
- Assist with the annual tax return preparation
- Maintain working relationship with external auditors: coordinate and manage review/audit engagements and prepare required working papers and address audit queries
- Complete regulatory filings related to: ESTMA, GST, and Statistics Canada Surveys
- Assist with the purchase-to-pay function: reconciliation and coding of invoices for payment and communicate with vendors regarding accounts and payments
Education Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree from an accredited university
- 3-5 years of relevant experience (public practice or industry)
- CPA designation is mandatory
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Willingness to learn and collaborate with other members of the finance team
- Desire for continuous learning and professional growth
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships
