The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a professional, positive and detail oriented individual to join our Finance Team.  Reporting to the Manager, Accounting and Reporting, the General Accountant – Capital Assets is responsible for financial oversight of the City's capital projects, asset management programs, and administering federal and provincial grants for the City of Fort Saskatchewan and the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library.  The responsibilities of this position include the ongoing monitoring of capital expenditures to ensure compliance with City policies and budgetary and other funding source restrictions. This position also assists in meeting the internal and external Capital Reporting requirements of the City.

The successful candidate will possess an Accounting Diploma and/or Accounting Degree, with a minimum of three years’ extensive general ledger and accounting experience.  The incumbent will be highly organized with the ability to effectively prioritize their tasks to meet the various demands of a fast paced work environment.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.  Strategic thinking and analytical skills to perform financial analysis, solve problems, make recommendations and prepare financial reports is essential.  The successful applicant will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have working knowledge of computerized financial systems.  Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, including Diamond Municipal modules, is considered an asset.
