Quest Disposal and Recycling Inc is a proud Alberta based company located out of Vegreville, Alberta and has been in business since 2010 and has experienced double digit growth year over year and has continued plans to expand! Quest works alongside both residential and corporate clients meeting their waste management needs no matter the scope or size. We serve a broad array of industries from Oil and Gas to Construction and Municipalities just to name a few. Our services range from waste collection, sanitization, recycling, special waste collection, temporary fencing, rentals, recycling, scrap metal recycling and demolition and abatement. We provide services to over 75 towns and cities across Alberta.  Quest is fully certified and a current member of Isnetworld in addition to being a recipient of the SECORE safety certificate.

The Opportunity

If so, you may be just the person we are looking for to fill our newly created Controller role.

As the Controller, you will be providing financial leadership and direction across QUEST and one startup organization, through developing and maintaining financial and administration policies, procedures, plans, and systems. This includes acting as an expert resource to the Ownership Group through providing advice, and guidance on financial and administrative processes, best practices, and issues management. 

You will be comfortable as a senior financial leader and enjoy overseeing and developing a financial and administrative team. Key responsibilities will include oversight of financial operations including financial reporting, legal and taxation compliance, financial internal controls and systems, budgeting and forecasting, and enterprise risk management and utilization and analysis of financial metrics to guide executive decision making. You will oversee all contracts across the organization ensuring a vendor management protocol and strategy is in place and reflects prudent financial and business practices. In addition, you will oversee the management and maintenance of several key external relationships, such as banking, our accounting firm, and third-party service contractors/providers.

A significant component of the role will be the day to day operational leadership and management of the finance and administration teams ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and billing and budget oversight.

The position is located in Vegreville, Alberta.

The Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate you will have a CPA designation and three to five years of progressively responsible senior management experience in leading accounting or finance teams in delivering financial services to a professional organization with direct oversight of significant budgets, contract management, and resource and procurement management.  Accounting experience must include managing and leading a/r, a/p, producing financial statements, budget preparation and oversight, and working with financial systems. Demonstrated ability in policy and process development, leading, planning, and issues resolution and the ability to influence and engage with internal and external clients is essential.

Your background will demonstrate an ability to build relationships with internal teams as well as key clients and service providers. You naturally have the ability, to see all sides of an issue and enjoy providing support to business owners ensuring they have the required financial information to make informed decisions. You are an excellent communicator and have a keen desire to find solutions and make a difference. You are highly organized and take a ‘hands on’ approach to ensure the highest quality in service delivery, and operational management.
