The Opportunity: Director of Finance and Administration

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance and Administration (“Director”) is accountable for all aspects of financial operations, including financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, banking, insurance, and budget development. Operating from an organizational risk management perspective, overarching responsibilities include financial reporting, cash management, capital asset management, as well as contract management and negotiation. A key responsibility is to provide timely and insightful monthly financial reporting to the CEO and management team that includes appropriate program-level variance analysis and other financial highlights.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA);
  • A minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience with accounting, financial planning and control, budgeting, and management experience.
  • Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector and/or a union environment is an asset, but not a requirement;
  • Experience/familiarity with Human Resource and IT functions and current knowledge of information systems and technology would be ideal, though promising pure finance leaders will receive serious consideration
