Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, People, Customer, Corporate Affairs, the Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO) provides expert advice and policy guidance on complex regulatory issues impacting BC Hydro and its customers. The CRO supports BC Hydro’s Board of Directors, Executive Team and senior leadership with the sage counsel required to operate effectively with the regulator and to shape opinion and direction within the regulatory environment. The CRO identifies strategic opportunities within the current regulatory regime and influences current and emerging regulatory thinking affecting BC Hydro’s business strategy and future projects and initiatives. The role develops and recommends corporate policy, frameworks, and standards on regulatory and rate design issues and also ensures regulatory compliance.

 

The CRO will be a proven senior leader, collaborator, and relationship builder, with a track record of successful strategic oversight of a regulatory function or the financial department of a highly regulated organization. With accountability for leading a team of 25 resources and interacting with diverse stakeholder groups inside and outside the organization, the individual will be a proactive planner, an excellent coach and a strong influencer. Demonstrating confidence without ego and always presenting with credibility and reliability, the CRO will nurture a positive work environment where diversity, equity and inclusion are welcomed. Ten plus years of experience as a senior leader in a large, complex organization, combined with a related undergraduate degree is essential.
