Position Profile:  
The Financial Accountant is a full-time position and will be based in the Calgary office, working in the Finance group, which is an integral business unit of Steel Reef Infrastructure Corp. The Financial Accountant is responsible for the accounting research, consolidation, and financial reporting functions along with the development of internal control policies and procedures.  
The Financial Accountant will report to the VP Controller. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Consolidate monthly financial reports and data for monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including balance sheet reconciliation, profit and loss, internal management reports and cashflow statements in accordance with IFRS;
  • Research and prepare memos on application of IFRS standards that would impact the company’s financial position and financial statements and coordinate policy solutions;
  • Analyze impacts of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on existing and new transactions;
  • Manage monthly foreign currency consolidation process;
  • Prepare monthly entries for interest rate and commodity derivatives, share-based compensation, ARO, depreciation and foreign currency reconciliations;
  • Manage the general ledger with oversight of the balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations;
  • Assist with month end close process and timelines for month end reporting;
  • Preparation of monthly management reporting;
  • Balance sheet and profit & loss analysis, including variance analysis that supports notes and management commentary;
  • Respond to financial inquiries by collecting data, analyzing and interpreting variances and summarizing to provide trend analysis and financial recommendations;
  • Proactively identify and implement new initiatives, process and efficiency improvements Implement and monitor adherence to corporate accounting policies and that the internal controls framework ensures the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial results;•    Liaise with external auditors, tax specialists and other business units and internal stakeholders;
  • Preparation and management of audit working papers.
