EBDN Communications Officer Board Position

The EBDN is a network of companies and organizations who are interested in advancing and shaping the diversity and inclusion environment in the Edmonton region.

 

Purpose: The Communications Officer ensures branding, communications, networking events and other media is consistent with the EBDN brand and its mission, vision, and values.

Reporting Structure: EBDN Board

Responsibilities:

All responsibilities as per the Board Director Position Description and:

  • Communicate all EBDN updates and messages to the EBDN membership, utilizing the Gmail EBDN email account and the email address information held in the Membership database.
  • Email invitations to members for Network meetings.
  • Maintain the documents and templates utilized by the EBDN group on Dropbox.
  • Manage the EBDN LinkedIn group page, which includes maintaining membership, advertising EBDN events and sharing media updates on relevant topics.
  • Work with Board to manage media, public and community relations when necessary.
  • Develop and/or produce communications materials (presentations, marketing materials, etc.) with Board members and presenters for Network meetings and EBDN branding.
  • Participate in monthly Executive meetings to shape the direction of the EBDN.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

All qualifications as per the Board of Director Position description and:

  • Working knowledge of Gmail, Excel, Dropbox.
  • Working knowledge of LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong user of PowerPoint and email.

Term of Office: 2 years.

Average Time Commitment: 10 hours per month.

Attendance required for:

  • Monthly Executive Meetings (up to 1 hour).
  • Monthly board meetings (Third Tuesday, every month, 1.5 hours).
  • Bi-Monthly EBDN events (Second Wednesday, every other month, 3 hours).

Orientation: To be delivered by Executive Committee.

Benefits: No benefits provided; no travel or expenses provided; role is solely voluntary.
