Intermediate/Senior Accountant

Responsibilities and Expectations
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Efficiently prepare compilation, review, bookkeeping, tax reporting, and remitting.
- Must be familiar with the compiling of financial statements, corresponding notes, and tax returns.
- Ensuring compliance with government standards.
- Vast knowledge of investment accounting, including but not limited to custodian statement reconciliation and investment fee verification
- Familiar with Accounting Principles of Benefit Plans and a Trust Fund
- Follow up on review notes, confirmations received, and outstanding issues.
- Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards.
- Provide supervision, training, and regular feedback to enable success for staff in fulfilling responsibilities and preparing accurate and timely financial information
- Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
- Work with accounting software.
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
Competencies:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisor experience in an office setting.
- Thorough working knowledge of programs including, Excel, Word, Sage, and QuickBooks.
- Display strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
- Value teamwork and quality in detailed work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and flexible team player with a positive attitude
- Possess strong attention to detail and integration skillset
- Ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple staff.
- Ability to be clear and concise through excellent written and verbal communication.

- Strong strategic, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work under pressure
