Business / Operations Manager

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated Business/Operations Manager who is excited about taking on a strategic role in our organization to help the management team rapidly scale the business.

Reporting directly to the owners, they will be directly engaged in organizational development and management activities in the following key areas: Strategy and Planning, Finance, Human Resources, Operational Administration Sales & Marketing.

Strategy & Planning

  • Evaluation of strategic commercial alliances, sales channels, new products, and markets
  • Participate in the development of strategic GTM planning related to new products and related launches


  • Develop, implement and administer the financial policies, systems, and procedures to support the growth of the business to the next stage
  • Prepare or coordinate annual and quarterly financial statements, forecasts and other cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports
  • Act as liaison between the company and its advisors, accountants, auditors, and investors
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day bookkeeping and year-end tax preparation support
  • Development and administration of SR&ED reporting program

Human Resources

  • Manage employee total reward programs
  • Collaborate with work unit leaders to plan for and address HR requirements and recruitment activities
  • Develop and implement human resource policies and procedures
  • Support administration of employee performance management and development programs
  • Ensure compliance with legislation (Employment Standards, Human Rights, Privacy Legislation, Occupational Health and Safety, Pay and employment equity)


  • Support day-to-day activities of office, management, and engineering teams
  • Plan, administer, and manage contracts and budgets with vendors

Sales and Marketing

  • Manage and nurture existing channel partner networks while investigating & developing new ones
  • Assist sales team in building relationships with clients and support negotiations of contracts
  • Coordinate and support market outreach efforts, channel/communication strategies and speaking engagements designed to evangelize technology and promote the sales of products and services


Ideal Candidate


  • 5 plus years experience in similar role/similar industry
  • Direct hands-on experience in growth/scaling phase of software technology business
  • Familiar with embedded Software technology, Professional services, and SaaS business model


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related field  
  • CFA or CPA designation desirable

  • Managerial and organizational skills with the ability to handle the day-to-day activities while staying focused on the long-term big picture
  • Creative, critical thinker with ability to solve complex, multidisciplinary problems
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • In-depth knowledge of common accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Zero and Wage Point, and MS Suite of software
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work independently and get things done
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Practical approach with ability to move easily and quickly across the variety of subject matter responsibilities
  • Able to work effectively at home and in a busy, open office environment
