  • Reports directly to CFO;
  • Senior Accountant reports directly to Corporate Controller.

Accountabilities and Key Functions

In this role, the individual is accountable for supporting the CFO in all accounting and corporate activities of GIP. The Corporate Controller is accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the Company’s accounting records, financial statements, and financial reporting, both external and internal.  

Key functions include:

  • Preparing the consolidated financial statements, notes and MD&A of GIP under IFRS;
  • Managing the Company’s quarterly reviews and year end audits, including those of subsidiary entities and joint ventures;
  • Filtering all accounting and corporate matters for the CFO and keeping the CFO fully apprised of all items of significance;
  • Completing the analysis of complex accounting matters including those resulting from new accounting standards, acquisitions, financings and other transactions;
  • Developing and maintaining accurate financial records in the accounting system including assisting in the development and maintenance of a strong internal control environment;
  • Overseeing the preparation of management reports, which summarize and analyze key performance indicators for management and the Board of Directors;
  • Managing the internal budget process;
  • Maintaining GIP’s corporate model, including completing analysis on impact of new projects and acquisitions;
  • Maintaining a detailed liquidity forecast to support prudent cash management;
  • Coordinating the preparation and filing of the Company’s various corporate and partnership income tax returns, including the preparation of deferred tax calculations;
  • Coordinating and reviewing the accurate preparation and filing of all federal and provincial input tax returns, corporate reports, returns and filings;
  • Assisting the CFO in executing corporate and project level financings;
  • Assisting the CFO in ESG tracking and reporting;
  • Overseeing compliance with internal controls, processes and procedures, and developing new internal controls, processes and procedures as required;
  • Supporting the growth and development of the accounting team; and
  • Other duties and task as required; as the Company grows so will the tasks and duties of the Corporate Controller.

Education

  • A recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA) is required. 

Experience

  • Minimum ten (10) years recent and proven corporate accounting experience in a complex, dynamic, multi-jurisdictional environment;
  • Strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and great understanding of financial processes and public company reporting obligations;
  • Experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work outside regular business hours when required.
  • Occasional travel across North America may be required.
