Assistant Controller - Contract Term

At Bravo Target Safety, our purpose is for all workers to get home safely every day.  We are seeking a qualified CPA to fill the Assistant Controller position in our downtown Calgary office.  The role is on a contract basis for 10 months, starting in June 2021.

 

Key Accountabilities:

General Accounting

  • Prepare and coordinate the timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports including a thorough analysis to validate the accuracy and consistency with expectations prior to distribution.
  • Preparation, distribution, and interpretation of weekly forward-looking financial and non-financial information that can be used to make informed decisions.
  • Ensure monthly reconciliation for all GL accounts and information used in the notes to the financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP/ASPE.
  • Ensure bank reconciliations, corporate taxes, GST, provincial sales taxes, and other remittances are reconciled and paid as required

 

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Preparation of the budget and forecasts taking into account critical information obtained from business leaders
  • Coordinate the reporting of backlog and sales activities to provide guidance on future trends
  • Prepare in-depth analysis of variances against planned activities, providing insight into key business drivers that are impacting performance
  • Proactively work with business managers to identify opportunities to improve the business and bottom line results

 

Other

  • Contribute to the development and support of a strong internal control environment
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of the business
  • Provide support in the preparation of various reports used by internal and external stakeholders, including covenant calculations, cash-flow forecasts, and other reports as required
  • Provide insight and solutions into the effective use of accounting systems
  • Build effective relationships within finance, providing support and leadership to ensure that the overall objectives of the organization are met

Qualifications

  • Designated accountant (CPA) required
  • University degree with a background in finance or accounting
  • 5 + years experience in a full cycle accounting position
  • Proficient with financial and project management software
