Intermediate Accountant (15 Month Term)

The Role

The Financial Accountant supports the financial health of the company through the collection, processing, reporting, and reconciliation of financial data. This role is also responsible for verifying the validity, completeness, accuracy of documentation and actively participating in the advancement of corporate financial goals and objectives.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

• Fixed asset amortization and tracking
• Tracking and analysis of Visa/MasterCard discount fees
• Track and record entries for prepaid expenses, accruals and deferred revenues
• Reconcile general ledger control accounts to subledger balances monthly
• Create and maintain monthly accounting cycle checklist
• Review and support of A/R and A/P transactions and processes, acting as a backup for A/P or A/R as needed
• Special projects or Sage 300 program enhancements as required
• Sage transactional review and process efficiency
• Government Filing (GST/PST returns) and tax payments
• Treasury management, moving cash between bank accounts and ensuring sufficient funds to clear payroll or other expenses
• Developing procedures and policies to support work and maintain solid internal controls
• Corporate fiscal responsibility based on objectives and company goals
• Support the finance team on achieving quarterly and annual objectives
• Updates job knowledge by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

• Participate in weekly L10 meetings with the finance team, bringing issues and communication to team members

 Qualifications include

• Post-secondary education with an Accounting focus
• CPA designation, or working towards CPA designation
• Minimum three years’ experience in an accounting role
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft 365 products
• Advanced working knowledge of Sage 300 is an asset
