St. Thomas Aquinas Roman (STAR) Catholic Schools is a Catholic school authority in central Alberta, operating K-12 schools in Leduc, Beaumont, Drayton Valley, Wetaskiwin, Ponoka and Lacombe.  With a population of approximately 4200 students, with a historical growth of around 4%, it is a dynamic division.

 

St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools is seeking a self-motivated individual to guide the day-to-day financial operations of the Division in accordance with board policy and all relevant legislation, oversee the operation of the Central Office building, and other duties as assigned. Primary job responsibilities will include:

 

  • Day to day supervision, assignment of work and hiring of financial services staff
  • Develop and implement financial systems, processes and procedures as they relate to budgeting, payroll, purchasing, internal and external financial reporting, and internal audit as approved by the Secretary-Treasurer
  • Analysis of financial and other data to provide advice for improving operational models and approaches
  • Assist with the development of the annual Budget, and preparation of the annual Budget Report
  • Ensure the accuracy of all financial information and reporting
  • Coordinate the preparation and audit of the Annual Financial Statements
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies, processes and procedures related to records management
  • Assist with the coordination and management of Division boundary expansion (formations)

 

The successful candidate must have a undergraduate degree and a Canadian professional accounting designation.  Preference will be given to candidates who possess mid-level or senior financial management role, connecting with executive staff.  Previous experience in public sector or school division accounting and financial reporting, payroll and pension oversight, and staff supervision will be an asset.

The salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $110,000, in combination with a competitive benefit package and vacation leave provisions.
